It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Saturday in Manchester City Centre as we prepared for the CanKnowPiano™ Christmas Concert 2021. Piano learners, families, and friends from across Greater Manchester came to hear to one another play, to cheer one another on, and to support Children in Need. Christmas jumpers were obligatory as we took to Forsyth’s Schimmel grand.

Arturo, William, and Thomas – our youngest learners – started the concert brilliantly with their performances of Initial Grade and Grade 1 pieces, and their Christmas pieces – Carol of the Drum, Good King Wenceslas, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas – were met by rapturous applause from the audience.

Our adult learners explored and enjoyed the rich sounds of the fantastic nine-foot concert grand at Forsyth, with music ranging from Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turka to Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The event ended with the audience singing happy birthday to Simon – who has been enjoying Bartók and Rachmaninov in retirement – followed by mulled wine and mince pies (and I may or may not have had a cheeky donut across the road for afters)!
Since Saturday, we’ve been grateful to receive numerous donations for Children in Need. If you would like to donate, then please do so here:
